To keep up the pace with our hectic lives, we all need an escape from our mundane jobs to a quiet and serene place. But most of the time our much-needed vacation takes a back due to unavailability of enough leaves or money. So, if you are looking for a short trip of 2 days from Delhi that don’t burn a hole in your pocket, then Kasauli is your destination.
Amidst pine forest and majestic hills, Kasauli is a quaint hill station in Himachal Pradesh. It is famous for its green-housed church, Victorian-era houses, beautiful trails, and peaceful surroundings. It is said that this little town was founded by a British family in 1842 probably to find an escape to a quieter place away from the hustle and bustle of the main city. Even after so many years, it retains its calmness and tranquility.
After days of contemplation, I and my office friends finally decided Kasauli as our next travel spot. It is about 550 kms from Jaipur having the best connectivity possible and most importantly, was the perfect place for a short yet rejuvenating trip.
As there is no direct mode of conveyance to Kasauli, we decided to take a train to Chandigarh. From Chandigarh, we boarded a bus to Kasauli. It’s a bit longer route but totally worth it. Throughout the entire journey, an array of picturesque views will accompany you and I swear, you wouldn’t be able to take your eyes off from them.
Here I’m mentioned Top 10 places to visit in Kasauli. Take Heed.
10 Gilbert’s Nature Trail:
With mountains on one side and the gorge (with pine trees) on the other, it is one of the most exhilarating experiences in Kasauli. The end of this trail is a suicide point which in itself is quite dreary and looks like a place in the middle of nowhere!
The feeling of a cool breeze ruffling your hair while you walk along this trail is beautiful.
There is a sunset point near the trail. Unlike most of the “tourists”, do not waste your time over that point for the sunset time. Head over to Gilbert’s trail instead. The entire upper mall area is the sunset point in itself and offers a majestic view of the valley, the sky, and the forest.
9 A walk in the upper mall road:
Give a pleasure to your senses by taking a walk along the upper mall area. The journey in itself is so exciting that no one dares ask what is at the end of this road. Beginning in the stone cobbled path, it offers a picture-perfect view of the valley.
Breathe in the pleasant air, listen to the chirping birds, and discover various variants of flowers, butterflies, and trees as you go.
8 A walk in the pine forest:
Since the entire town is the pine forest in itself, go along the side of the road anywhere and you would find yourself in the woods! Get mesmerized by the tall, strong pine trees and also don’t forget to get that small little pine souvenir for your living room.
7 Christ Church:
Established in 1853 A.D, Christ Church is the oldest church in Himachal Pradesh and is famously known as Anglican Church. The church is dedicated to St. Francis and St. Barnabas and designed in symbolic Gothic Style architecture.
The grey walls of the church have been adorned with mirrors that shine brighter when sunshine greets them. The green shack on the top makes it more appealing attracting myriads of tourist from all corners of the world. The front of the church proudly wears a clock tower with a sundial which takes you back to the British era. Go there to experience the beauty of the church and click some great pictures.
